About
About Me
Hey there! My name is Thomas Sutherland, I am a 24 year old graduate that’s discovering their place in the world and keen to make a difference. I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2019 having studied a BA in Theatre & Performance with Creative Writing, I am now embarking on completing a PGDE with TeachFirst and UCL. I have always been the kind of person that believes they can do anything and wanted to change career path every two weeks. However, I have found a path that I am more than excited about and suits me perfectly. And I want to share that journey with you.
I have worked with young people since I was myself a ‘young person’, I have organised and run youth groups, worked for NCS, been a presenter in schools and done youth coaching – every part time job I got seemed to be in the pursuit of helping young people. Maybe it was destiny? In October of 2019, after only lasting 6 weeks in a corporate London job I became a Teaching Assistant and never looked back. This is where my journey into education began and I hope that my experience, insight and advice can help you inspire, educate and support our young people.
My Focus
I completely believe that the difference we make in the lives of young people affects their entire future. Many of the issues we face today can be prevented by providing encouraging, safe and nurturing environments both within school and at home. Not only that, but bridging the gap of inequality in education and providing the same opportunities regardless of race, gender, sexuality or religion is a right of every young person. If I can help you change the life of one young person – that I have succeed in my mission.
